Antique Vintage c1880 American Aesthetic Stained Glass Transom Window
This old transom window dates to c1880. It went through a total restoration to correct severe bowing and we had some cracks covered with leaf leads. The frame is original and was repaired, sanded and repainted a rich graphite color and then waxed to a nice satin sheen. The glass pieces that were cracked are a rare color and the professional that worked on these said that since that particular glass was so hard to come by, the way to go was to cover the cracks. Outside dimension is 35 3/4w x 15 7/8h x 1 5/8thick, measurement for the glass only is 31 3/4w x 11 3/4h. The dark greens and blues of the ripple glass contrast beautifully to the magenta, crimson and amber pieces when the light shines through. A gorgeous piece that could be installed or hung vertically or horizontally.
