My wife and I discovered this fine example in an antique store in Paradise California. You might say we rescued this lamp in a way, as we took it home with us shortly before the “Camp Fire” that unfortunately devastated most of that beautiful area. Based on my experience I’ll share with you some things I think are important to know. First and foremost, this lamp is HUGE. It measures 25 1/2 wide and 16 inches high. It incorporates an estimated 500 pieces of glass. This is not a copy made somewhere recently in a factory overseas where hot glass was poured into a mold. Look at those beautiful tulips, so popular in the 20s. I have been able to find one small hairline shown in the second photograph and what appears to be a small repair shown in the last. You may find other imperfections. Please consider that this is an antique… By its very nature of being old it is not “dead mint” or perfect. The lamp has been re-electrified, and the socket is not original. If you love antiques, this lamp can bring you the experience of beauty and enjoyment typical of what I believe to be a fine work of art. Includes 14 feet of chain with electrical wiring (not old) previously used in hanging the lamp. The socket cluster with all period sockets in matching patina and fine working order, and its been recently rewired with correct period style cloth cord and old style plug. The patina in very nice original form throughout. The metalware condition is excellent as there is not cracks, break, or losses to speak of. This is a very heavy and well made Handel base for sure. The base signed properly in the lower corner of the very bottom, please see photo. The base also comes with its original cap and finial. It doesnt get much better than that folks. B&W photo from Mosaic shades 2, All original and on Original base as well. They used their best leading employee to make this shade just superior in leading even has the similar to Tiffany ring cover on bottom of shade skirt. I say Tiffany Style because they made one very similar E bay says my picture isn’t to their standards to I could not list it along with mine. I think Wilkinson did a fabulous job and one upped them with the red jewels! Lamp stands 22 in tall 8 in wide foot. Shade is 16 in x 7 in. Aperture is same 3 in as all Wilkinson shades are. Try to focus on the base, beautiful patina over all of lamp! This is one top notch Antique lamp. Has 3 Hubbell Acorn chains working fine! A extremely fine all original antique leaded slag glass with very fine bronze metal overlay work. A well documented very rare Whaley lamp shade in excellent condition. The slag glass that was used in this shade is second to none very vibrant and full of fire and intense colors the photo’s don’t do it any justice at all. The shade is very tight with no loose glass or leading. The original bronze patina on the leading is untouched and in excellent condition. It’s very seldom that I get to say this but there are no cracks or repairs to this very fine old shade. The untouched very dark patina on the extremely finely crafted bronze metal overlay work is in perfect condition. The shade is a little dirty but I will leave it up to the new owner to decide if they want to give it a gentile cleaning. This will also allow to be installed on many different lamp bases. There is a small flat spot on the shade fitter but will not affect it in any way that is shown in a photo.
