Antique Signed Miller Lamp Base for leaded/stained glass shade. This lamp to me is in extremely fine condition (see pictures they talk for themselves). Good support for any lampshade. Bryant sockets with matching acorn style pull chains. The cap and finial look to be original to the lamp. Basically a fine original piece in my condition. We are the New England association of early lighting. Our group is made up of collectors of electric lamps between 1900 to and about 1945, although our group started in New England years ago we now stretch across the country with over 100 collectors, resellers and some dealers with other Antiques. Including each other for pieces, parts bases or complete lamps and shades. One of the things we are all in agreement is that if you are purchasing a 100 year old lamp IT WILL NOT BE NEW!!!! That means that screws, sockets, wire, finals, paint, patina, shades, lose part etc may not be what came with the lamp from the original showroom they will not be perfect! . 99.9% of all lamps have these problems. WILKINSON LEADED GLASS LAMP, 18 RIBBON PATTERN w 3 LT ORIGINAL BASE TIFFANY ERA

Wilkinson Lamp Company of Brooklyn, New York. This pattern is called “Ribbon” and it is done in a wonderful arts and crafts design. This lamp has some size to it as it stands 24″ tall to the very top of the finial and the bottom of the base has a diameter of 10 1/8″ diagonal measurement from outside foot to outside foot. The shade has a diameter of 18 1/2. The shade is crafted from experienced craftsmen. The shade displays a skirted dome shape with a an Art Nouveau Ribbon pattern running throughout the lower skirt. The beige or caramel slag glass background gives brightness to the lamp when lit. The ribbon is made up of several opalescent glass colors such as red, forest green, green brown glass and a wonderful peach or light orange glass. The quality of the leading is excellent. Wilkinson had a unique way of locking their shades to their lamp bases. This system of mounting the shade to the base was similar to The Handel Lamp Company of Meriden, CT. The only difference is with a Wilkinson shade you set it on the cap that is hard mounted to the base and locked down by the finial. You then turn the shade until you feel it drop into the groove. You then turn the shade into the groove and it locks the shade to the base. Handel lamps did not have this locking feature. The base is made of heavy zinc and has a 3 light cluster to illuminate the shade. Each one of the sockets is signed Hubbell and the each have an acorn pull chain that work just fine. The lap base is done in a French dark bronze patina. It has recently been rewired with the antiques style brown lamp cord and it still retains its original antique Bakelite plug. The base is considered to be in excellent condition and only shows minimal wear. The base is signed with the number “515” in raised relief. This is the model number of the base. The shade is in equally as good of condition. I could only find a handful of stress cracks in the glass 3 maybe 4. The most noticeable is a tight line in a peach or orange colored piece and this is pictures. Having stress cracks in a lamp 100 years old is quite common and acceptable. Neither of them are too obtrusive. The shade is not signed but it does have a price tag or mold pull out loop located on the inside of the shade and this is pictured. This pattern can be documented in the book “Mosiac Shades Volume II” by Paul Crist page 269 center row. This same pattern of shade and same base are pictured on the far right 2 examples. Fine Circa 1910 Antique Tiffany Studios Leaded Glass Shade Bronze Base Oil Lamp

From a historic standpoint this is a perfect example of the lamps being produced by Tiffany circa 1910. It is from the original owner New York estate of Dr. He received his medical degree in 1880 and was a third generation doctor. This lamp must have been stunning sitting in his study lit by natural orange flame. Lamp measures 24 1/2 tall. Leaded glass shade is 16″ wide x 6 1/2″ tall. Bronze base measures 9 1/2″ wide x 18 1/2″ tall to top of burner. Base is impressed Tiffany Studios New York 5965, has the original untouched verdigris finish with no dings or dents, burner and insert have the same finish. Top of oil font shows a heavier patina from over a hundred years of dust resting on it. Burner is in good working condition and the lamp could be lit once oil was added. Shade has original Tiffany Studios New York name plate, no repairs and an untouched patina. The shade is stiff and strong. I have two hairlines to glass panels photographed, one is at the top channel at the opening and the other in the decoration at the bulge of the shade. There is two more panels with very small hairlines in the same channel opposite side. The lamp and shade are in perfect condition for the age. Lamp is fresh out of the original estate.
