American Table Lamp Leaded Glass Bronze & Potery Ceramic Base Early 20th Century. Unique Lamp Company in New York. Probably Teco Pottery an American Terracotta Tile and Ceramic Company founded in 1881. American leaded glass shade with beautiful pottery base. Condition: The shade has 15 glass pieces with cracks from which only 2 are serious crack the other 13 are hard to see. In good condition with a few cracks to the glass pieces (see pictures). Original origin and full provenance unknown. Provenance: Private collection New York. They can range in price depending on size and type of item. Extremely rare hanging lamp designed by Felipe Delfinger for Feders. Does show wear consistent with age. Unfortunately this is missing 2 glass panes along the bottom (as seen in last picture). This does appear as though the previous owner had bent all the bottom panes towards the middle in order to hide those missing panes. Original dark brown plastic socket. 18 inch chain included. This was hardwired into the ceiling and therefore the cord has been cut. Some of the glass panes are slightly loose. Select one or several empire art deco hand painted leaded stained glass sections removed from Manhattan’s infamous Central Park gem the Essex House Hotel, one of New York’s most beloved land marks. The stain glass section Installed in 1929 for the 1931 grand opening were painstakingly removed for art preservation some 60 years later and stored by a collector. We will consider reasonable lot offers on 3 or more panels. One window has a small crack and will be auctioned separately If you work with stained glass we would love to speak to you. With 4 remaining large format pieces of 32″x31″ square sections available you can add a breathtaking and historic note to your collection, home or office. An amazing gift for fans of the city that never sleeps, art deco collectors and those familiar with the grand Essex House. One of the pieces has a crack in the outside. Work and will be discounted for any purchaser that would like to restore it. Windows in exceptional condition for age, please remember that these windows are architectural, historical sections and that there condition will be commensurate with age and class. The patterns and design, rolled glass, kilned, suggest age and craftsmanship. A brief history of the Essex House. Construction began on October 30, 1929, one day after the historic 1929 crash of Wall street. The hotel was first intended to be named the Park Tower and then the Sevilla Tower. However the depression slowed construction and the hotel did not open until October 1, 1931, as the Essex House. In 1932, the hotel was taken from its bankrupt owners by the US Government’s RFC That same year, the hotel erected its iconic six-story sign on the roof. The hotel was renamed JW Marriott Essex House New York on September 8, 2012, after the sale closed. The hotel was formerly the home of a many-starred restaurant, Alain Ducasse at Essex House. Essex House has and remains a treasure on the Manhattan landscape, home to stars and those who love the glamour and wonder of this early 20th century classic. Own a piece of history.
