Antique Tiffany Studios Reproduction Wisteria Leaded Glass Lamp Bronze Tree Base
This is a beautiful museum quality Reproduction of Tiffany Studios wonderful Wisteria Lamp on its Large tree trunk bronze base. Considered to be one of the lamps with the Irregular Upper and Lower Border shades, Dr. Neustadt, in his book, “The Lamps of Tiffany” states “In conception, as well as workmanship, these shades represent the apogee of all Tiffany’s creative accomplishments”. “Infinitely delicate in design, the standard Wisteria is made up of more than a thousand small pieces of painstakingly selected glass in highly complicated, meticulously cut, curved shapes”. This particular Yellow Wisteria shade actually has 1,930 pieces of glass in it, primarily Youghiogheny, Uroborus and Bullseye glass. They flow down from the bronze tree branch crown and are supported by bronze branches running through the leaded glass leaves down the sides of the glass shade to its very irregular lower border. This shade also features the gently rounded corners from the Bronze crown to the sides of the shade. The Bronze base is an Odyssey Lamp base and is guaranteed to be an exact reproduction of a model produced by Tiffany Studios. The molds from which it was case were taken directly off an original Tiffany lampbase. No parts or external details have been altered or simplified. The patination technique is identical to that emnployted by Tiffany Studios. This is a true reproduction in every way. The original Tiffany Wisteria Lamps were the design of one of Tiffany’s Girls, Clara Driscoll who also designed the Dragonfly Shades. This is a beautiful large lamp, standing about 26 inches tall on its 14 inch patinated base. The shade is 18 inches in diameter and some 16 to 17 inches tall. The base alone weighs 19.25 pounds and the shade weighs in at 18.15 pounds making a lamp that comes in just under 40 pounds of bronze and leaded glass. Just a wonderful lamp. The Wisteria lamp is my personal favorite lamp and one of the reasons I got into this kind of lamp business some 50 years ago. A wonderful opportunity to have one for your home or office at a fraction of those costs. At the present time, there is a good selection of numerous models of both shades and bases.
