He was a teacher of stained glass to Louis Comfort Tiffany. If you search MacDonald theres a Wikipedia article. Also on Leaded Lamps Dot Com theres some pictures of this shade on a Grueby Lamp base. This shade was a mystery on who made the shade since its only signed MacDonald. I herd it could of been his Son or Daughter. That cleared the confusion on who made the shade. Donald Newton MacDonald was the son that ended up being the head of the Stained glass lamp department of Bigelow & Kennard lamp co. So now I believe that these signed MacDonald Leaded shades are Prototypes to show Bigelow & Kennard his work and was hired and the same shades where then signed Bigelow & Kennard as we see today. This shade is exceptional. The shade is 20 in Diameter with a 3 1/2 aperture top opening. The condition is mint. I hate to say that but I cant find a crack maybe a very small one up by the top in the green glass. The leading is amazing just like all Bigelow shades. The glass has a hammered type green glass and a beautiful White Clam Broth bottom glass as Bigelow used in a lot of there shades. The shade is signed MacDonald. I do have the Grueby lamp base I would also sell if there is interest? This shade is very hard and rare. If you have a nice Bigelow Kennard base there you go. If you have questions please ask. Up for consideration is a Nice Rare Bigelow Kennard student lamp. First if you know anything about Bigelow Lamps they are super hard to find, Let alone a Student lamp. This lamp has a nice Brass and Bronze weighted base. The base stands 21 tall with a 10 wide at the center of the shade holders and is 13 wide at the outside edge of the holder to outside edge. The foot is 6 1/4 in Diameter. The base has a nice dark brown patina, The shade holders are solid bronze and has a UNO threaded washer to hold the shades to the holder. The holder also has a top piece that can be screwed up or down to the top of the shade. The shades are not signed but Are Bigelow. You can go to leaded lamps dot com and see the same shades under Bigelow & Kennard. The shades are 4 -/2 tall and 7 opening. The top has a Hubbell UNO 1 1/4 threaded top marked Hubbell Pat D July 03 1903, Fed 03 1904. The shades are in good shape. The shades have a great Clam broth back glass know for Bigelow shades with a floral border. The shade condition is pretty good. One shade I dont see any issues maybe one small heat crack the other shade has 8 or 9 heat cracks as shown in the pictures and a missing piece of leading on the bottom edge as shown in the pictures. The lamp has been rewired and has its original nickel plate inline switch and old plug. Ive taken a lot of pictures which is part of the description. Use your zoom feature to see condition. Thats a huge savings overall for sure. I have for sale this excellent and properly signed Bradley and Hubbard lamp. This is a very nice looking and nicely designed arts and crafts geometric lamp. This lamp Is very large measuring in at 24 inches tall with the shade being 20 inches wide. The base with no breaks, cracks, or losses in the metalware and in fine working order. The base also in original patina and in very nice condition. The leaded shade also in very good overall condition and structurally sound throughout. The leading tight and right and the glass quality/coloration very good as you can see how nice this lights up in the photos. No glass loss and only a couple age lines here or there to be seen. I have to assume the base and shade have always been together for the past 100 years or so because they are nicely matching, as well as the total proportion of shade and base. Just all in all a great Bradley and Hubbard lamp thats super well made and in great arts and crafts form. This is a supercool lamp folks so pay attention lol. This lamp is in very good overall condition and needs no excuses. The base has three matching Hubbell sockets all in excellent original patina and with matching acorn pulls. Its been recently rewired with proper period style cloth cord and old style plug and its in perfect working order. Now onto the shade. The shade in great coloration with vibrant glass and in a excellent arts and crafts design. The shade in excellent original condition and needing zero excuses. The leading all tight and right throughout and no loose glass pieces. This is also a larger than normal lamp measuring in 24 inches tall with the shade being 20.5 inches wide. Beautiful Antique Large Geometrical Leaded Glass Shade. Not positive of maker, as I have been told Wilkinson. The green glass that was used in this shade is gorgeous. Shade measures 18″ Wide and about 9″ Tall. Does have minimal heat cracks, which is normal and acceptable on antique lamp shades that are over 100 years old. No missing or loose glass. Looks to have repairs done to shade. Will look great on your Antique Lamp base. One photo shows top of shade where you can see some light coming thru. The cap I used is a little bent in a couple of areas which caused the light to come thru. This listing is for shade only. That’s an unbelievable savings as well. This is not a common lamp by any stretch and i have only owned to in my 25 years of collecting and dealing. The glass in this shade is very nice and extremely vibrant and This is a full sized lamp in that its measuring 23 inches tall and the shade being 19 inches wide. The base is properly signed Bradley and Hubbard underneath please see photo, and its in original patina with all four period Hubbell sockets sockets with acorn pulls matching one another and in fine working order. These sockets alone are worth 200-250 dollars folks. There is no damage at all to the very heavy base. As for the shade that is also in very nice overall original condition. Great quality glass certainly Murano as being the maker and as you can see it lights up incredible. All the filligree present and accounted for as well as all the glass holding tabs on the inside of the shade. No breaks in the glass nor missing pieces thereof. I bought it as you see it but think it might have been originally a hanging shade but truthfully i could care less due to the rarity of the shade. I guess if anybody wanted to try and convert back into a hanging shade maybe that option exists as well but for now i think its excellent the way it is. All in all a super nice arts and crafts style lamp by one of the best makers there ever was you cant beat that. We may be able to hand deliver this item ourselves. What that means is this. Foot 6″ wide shade is 15.5″ wide 6 deep. 2 minute heat lines no impacts or web like cracks all glass is tight in place and again BEAUTIFUL! One Vintage socket pull chain works fine wired and ready to use. The narrow candle stick base works great with this sparkly granite back and very translucent glass. Antique very rare Gorham 1906 – 1909 bulbous 18 shade in lotus design. Lots of curved bent glass indicating high quality artist made! Typical of lotus plants & lotus flowers they resemble water lily but this shade design are actually lotus plants because of description of lotus is explained. Difference in description on internet search of both plants – The 6 pale white glass w/green striations of lotus flowers around rim of this Gorham shade that float on water resemble water lilies but lotus plant has flowers growing through surface above as in this shade. Water lotus flowers floating on green leaf along shade’s border has lotus flower buds emerging from water above pairs of pink w/darker pink striations & red w/red striations in glass – Water lilies plants according to internet search do not have emerging flower buds. This was confusing others that questioned shade’s floral design? Lotus design is the answer according to research! Lotus design on glass shades are. As they are not typical flowers decided for lamp construction – lotus flowers are used. In antique leaded glass shades than water lily design. The aperture crown opening is typical of aperture opening width made by the Gorham Lamp Co – Seen in last pic. Shade is original with a bit of rattle which is sign it is antique & it is in excellent condition – I counted 8-9 very small heat cracks none near each other mostly in green leaf glass some in background glass and 1 or 2 in lower lotus flowers at border – none in any of the red & pink flower buds. This shade has many more glass pieces more than average leaded glass shades. The bulbous shape makes shade look larger than 18 across from rim to opposite rim. ANTIQUE SIGNED HANDEL FLORAL LEADED GLASS LAMP SHADE & BRONZE BASE. This listing is for an antique, authentic signed Handel floral leaded glass lamp shade with bronze base. The leaded glass shade features an amazing array of colorful small floral blossoms in shades of pink, peach, yellow, orange, etc. Against a background of small multiple shades of green glass leaves. Inside the shade is the original wire loop for hanging the price tag with signature nearby. The shade is in very good condition as seen in photos, top opening has a diameter of 3-5/8, measures approx. 7 tall with a bottom diameter of approx. The lower edge of the shade features a saw-tooth style edging. Included is a lovely bronze lamp base (I also believe this to be a Handel missing its bottom felt signature pad). The base features a ribbed border edge with a circular wreath with berry accents. The inside center of the base has curved panels all around, base diameter is approx. The lower shaft of the lamp base features a tapered stem with ribbed panels and a flared upper neck that extends to a simple shaft to the sockets. There are 2 lamp sockets, each has a long chain pull with acorn on the end approx. 8 1/2 on both. On the top of the lamp base is a brass cap which fits nicely into the shade and also included is a brass screw-on finial top. The shade lifts off the dome center support. The wire is very stiff, probably not original and would advise to have it replaced. Both pull switches work. End of cord has a hard rubber plug. Overall the lamp shade and base measures approx.
