Antique Vintage Gold (Gilt) Leafy Lead Ormolu Filigree Oval Wall Mirror
This is an original antique (early 20th century) oval wall mirror in a leafy ormolu frame made from a malleable cast metal that seems to be lead. The frame was originally gilt, but has a very old layer of gold paint over the gilding. Some of the gilding can be seen where the paint is chipped. The mirror is quite heavy and solid, but the leaves on the frame bend easily and some have been repaired, as shown in the 9th and 10th photos. The repairs are solid and have been concealed with matching paint. The paint overall has acquired some chips, a little flakiness, and a naturally darkened, aged patina. There is some dusty, dirty residue on some of the leaves that could be removed with a good cleaning. The glass is securely attached inside the frame and appears to be original with a few signs of aging (a couple black streaks in the silver and a few small cloudy spots). The mirror silver really looks excellent considering age, and reflections are crystal clear throughout. Outer dimensions of the mirror are 20 1/2″ W x 26″ H. Carved Cherry Wood SWAN Dining Room Table Lead Glass Top 4’x 5′ Large Oval Ducks
This item is EXTREMELY heavy. The wooden base is not so heavy, but the table top could barely be carried by two grown men. The table is almost in perfect condition except for three flaws. A very tiny chip on the very edge of the glass top. It is barely noticeable, but it is there. I tried to take a photo of the chip, but it is really difficult to see in the image (the last photo). The glass top is so heavy that it has put a strain on both swan necks. One of the necks broke several years ago right at the top of the neck where the tabletop meets the neck. It was a clean break and easily repaired, though you can still see the break if you look closely enough. The other neck is wobbly near where the neck meets the swan’s body. This part did not actually break, but it feels like it might soon. It may need to be reinforced somehow. It is a gorgeous table that has been in my family for at least two generations. The glass top is not physically connected to the wooden base. It merely rests on it, and there are felt pads there to keep the wood and glass from scratching. It measures: 30″ H x 48″ W x 60 L.
